Tattoo Aftercare

The final quality of your tattoo depends significantly on how you care for it during the healing phase.
To preserve the intricate details and vibrant colors of your new piece, please follow these instructions precisely.

For second-skin bandage

1. The First 24–72 Hours: Protective Film (Second Skin)

β€’ After one day, please remove the first second skin film that I applied, and then apply the second film.β€’ Keep the film on for 2 to 3 days. This medical-grade barrier protects your open skin from bacteria and friction.β€’ Fluid buildup is normal.
You may see a dark, cloudy liquid trapped under the film.
This is a mixture of plasma and excess inkβ€”your body’s natural healing fluid.
Do not panic, it is helping the tattoo heal.
β€’ Early Removal: If the film starts to peel and exposes the tattoo, or if the fluid leaks out, remove it immediately. Leaving a compromised film on can trap bacteria against your skin.β€’ Removal Tip: Remove the film under lukewarm running water. Peel it back slowly and horizontally (parallel to the skin) rather than pulling it upward.

2. Cleaning & Daily Care

β€’ Wash 1–2 times a day. Once the film is off, use only your clean hands and a mild, fragrance-free, antibacterial soap.β€’ Be Gentle: Do not use washcloths, sponges, or loofahs. Gently massage the area to remove any dried plasma or ointment.β€’ Pat Dry, Do Not Rub: Use a clean, single-use paper towel to gently pat the moisture away. Avoid using bath towels, as they can harbor bacteria and lint.β€’ No Soaking: Avoid baths, swimming pools, hot tubs, and saunas for at least 3 weeks. Prolonged water exposure can cause the ink to leach out.

3. The "Thin Layer" Rule (Moisturizing)

β€’ Wait before applying: Let the tattoo air dry for about 15 minutes after washing before applying any product.β€’ Apply a very thin layer 3–5 times a day. The tattoo should have a slight sheen, but it should not look "wet" or greasy.β€’ Avoid Over-Moisturizing: If you apply too much ointment, the skin cannot breathe, which can lead to clogged pores, breakouts, or even "suffocating" the ink.β€’ Recommended Products: Use Aquaphor or a specialized tattoo aftercare cream. Avoid Vaseline or 100% petroleum jelly, as they are too heavy and non-breathable.

4. Critical Restrictions & Long-Term Care

β€’ Do Not Scratch or Peel: As the tattoo heals, it will itch and may develop thin scabs or "onion skin" peeling. Do not pick at it. Forcing a scab off will pull the ink out, leaving gaps in the fine details.β€’ Avoid Direct Sunlight: UV rays are the fastest way to fade color tattoos. Keep the tattoo covered with clothing during the healing process.β€’ Sunscreen Strategy: Once the tattoo is fully healed (after 3–4 weeks), apply a high-SPF sunscreen every time you go outside to keep the colors vibrant for years to come.β€’ No Heavy Exercise or Alcohol: Avoid excessive sweating and alcohol consumption for the first week. Sweat can irritate the fresh wound, and alcohol thins the blood, which may interfere with the healing process.

Expert Note: Because microrealism relies on subtle gradients and very fine lines, your tattoo may look slightly duller during the "peeling" phase. This is normal. The true colors and details will settle and shine through once the skin has fully regenerated.
